Venture Capital

Impact Investing Group's Venture Capital analysts connect startups with socially impactful missions to capital, partnerships, and growth opportunities.

Venture Capital Philosophy

Our ten-week project gives analysts hands-on exposure to the early-stage venture capital process. Through an ongoing partnership with Coeus Collective Ventures, analysts will learn how investors develop theses, map markets, source startups, conduct diligence, and evaluate where capital can create both durable commercial value and meaningful impact.

Teams will move from sector research and market mapping to founder conversations, company diligence, and investment recommendations. Analysts will evaluate not only whether a company addresses an important problem, but whether its business model, customer demand, unit economics, competitive positioning, and scalability support a compelling investment case.

Market Research & Due Diligence

Analysts will conduct sector research, market mapping, and company-level diligence to understand where emerging opportunities are developing and where value is likely to accrue.

Through founder conversations and independent research, teams will evaluate areas including market size, business models, unit economics, go-to-market strategy, competitive positioning, capital requirements, scalability, and impact. Bootcamps throughout the semester will introduce the financial and strategic frameworks used to support these decisions.

Sourcing and Investment Pitching

Analysts will source startups, meet with founders and operators, and develop investment recommendations based on their research.

Teams will synthesize their findings into investment memos and final pitches that defend not only why a company matters, but why it can win. Analysts will learn to communicate an investment thesis, identify key risks, pressure-test assumptions, and make a clear recommendation using evidence.

Why IIG?

Venture investing requires more than identifying exciting companies. Strong investors must understand markets, recognize durable customer demand, evaluate risk, and determine whether a business can scale before capital is deployed.

IIG gives students the opportunity to practice that process through live company research, founder interaction, and thesis-driven diligence. By combining financial analysis with IIG’s impact lens, analysts learn to identify companies where commercial success and measurable impact reinforce one another.
